ALERTS!

* * * SUMMER WEED ALERT  * * *

All the weeds are dead but some wild grasses. These Summer grassy weeds such as dallisgrass, nutgrass (nutsedge, yellow and purple), and crabgrass can be treated once the temperature reaches 85 degrees (and above) consistently, usually after June 1st.  Summers with excess rainfall may promote additional weeds. If you notice these weeds in your lawn, please call the office and we will send a service technician to take care of the problem at no additional charge when the timing is just right! Check out our Weed Gallery of pictures to help you identify common summer weeds.

* * * GRUB WORM ALERT! * * *

Irregular patches of dead grass in your lawn could be caused by GRUB WORMS. As the soil warms, grubs return to the surface to feed on your grass roots, causing severe damage. Since there are many different types of grubs, the life cycles could be overlapping this year. For more information about grubworms, go to our Lawn Pests Page.

Please allow us to prevent the damage from recurring in your lawn.

* * * FIRE ANT ALERT * * *

Over the last 70 years, red imported fire ants have become entrenched in the southern United States. Red imported fire ants are the primary insect problem for Southern home lawns, schools, parks, and business and industrial sites. Currently, fire ants infest over 325 million acres across the southern tier of states. And they're moving into California and northward along both coasts.

Now, new TopChoice from Bayer Environmental Science offers homeowners, landscapers and groundskeepers new hope. Available only through lawn care or pest control professionals, one broadcast application of TopChoice effectively controls fire ants for a full year. Existing fire ants in the treated area are killed and new colonies are prevented from forming.

Herbi-Systems offers this guaranteed YEAR LONG CONTROL for fire ants. Call for a price quote today. For more information on Fire Ants, please visit our Lawn Pests Page or go to www.nofireants.com

* * * FUNGUS ALERT * * *

Fungus and disease are more prevalent in the spring and summer for most turf grasses. The hot, humid weather can promote fungus almost overnight. Unfortunately, until symptoms arise, professionals and homeowners are unaware that there is a problem. Herbi-Systems offers fungicide treatments to stop the spread of the fungus or disease. Yet, even after our curative treatment, seeding, sodding or time may still be necessary for the grass to fill back in these areas.

 The pictures on our website (Lawn Diseases) are just a sampling of what we are seeing in lawns each year. Please be aware of any similar changes in your lawn. If you believe you have a fungus or disease, please contact our office. We will send a manager out to check on the lawn and advise what can be done.
